Will upgrading to Mountain Loin speed up Games.

I have a late macbook 09 model white curntlly runing on snow lepaored. I know this laptop is not a great laptop for playing games, but i do it anyway. I play games like team fortress 2, Half-life garrys mod and other indie games. Will upgrading to Mountain Loin seed up my game for me. My friend did, but I didn't see much of a speed boost. also how much space will the upgrade take up. dont have a lot of room and because of all these new Featureslike nofication will it too destroy my batery?.
