How do I set up Back to my Mac

Okay, I've spent way more hours than I'd like to admit trying to properly set up my network. Here's what I'm trying to do. I've got a U-Verse Residential Gateway (3801HGV), a 4th Generation Airport Extreme (MC340LL/A), and a 3rd Generation Apple TV. I just got a new Macbook Air and I'd like to be able to remotely access the external hard drives I've connected to the AE. I have the ethernet properly connected but what I have struggled with is the right combination of settings in Airport Uitilty. The problem is that I would like to be able to use AirPlay via the Apple TV but I am only able to get that to work if I bridge the Airport to the RG. However, Back to my Mac only works if I'm set up with the DHCP-NAT router mode and then AirPlay won't work. I've tried opening the proper ports for Airplay but still can't see it. I've tried static IPs, DHCP reservations, etc but honestly don't truly understand what that all means. Can someone please help a networking noob? Thank you!

okay, yeah that makes sense. So it's more likely the upload speed than the hard drive?

I've done Google Music but I synced it with a different computer and while most of the music is the same GM doesn't have a way to just add new songs. I'd have to reupload it all from the external hard drive, which given the price of GM I should probably just do. I've heard good things about iTunes match though

Hello Chris,

I want to set a DMZPlus with an Apple Extreme to offer DHCP-NAT. I have a Cisco DPQ3212 cable modem that just provide an IP address to a Mikrotik RB450G, to which the Apple Extreme is connected. I have other devices connected to the Apple Extreme, such as AppleTV, BlueRay player, Android smartTV box, an Emac, an external harddrive (time machine backup for Macbook Pro), and a Netgear wireless access for my guess. I will be using the Apple Extreme for wired and wireless connection.

I tried to set up but keep getting double NAT. I would like to use "Back To My Mac" to access the Emac and wake via LAN when sleeping. All other devices on the Apple Extreme can get IP address from the Mikrotik.

If I set up the way, would I still get double NAT because all other devices would get IP address from Mikrotik?

Would Apple Extreme and the Mikrotik have 99.XXX.XXX.XXX? The Cisco issues 70.XXX.XX.X. The Apple Extreme would be athorized for NAT through port 5900.
