how to zip a iMovie file fit by size for email carry on.

Good Day.


Hello out there wondering if some one lead me in the matter to zip a iMovie file to allow by size carry on by email and be enough space to send . how is the manner to do it or program to use for.

If you right-click (control-click) the file's icon you get a contextual menu. One option is "Compress "<filename>" and that will create a ZIP file without any extra steps or operations.


However, the amount of compression you get depends on the file. Example: jpgs and pdfs are already compression formats and they may not shrink as much as, say, a Word file or PhotoShop file (.psd) will.


Test to see how much the above method compresses. If not enough, consider finding an e-mail servie that has more liberal attachment size limits or, if you need to routinely transfer a lot of big files, set up an ftp site. ftp (file transfer protocol) handles very large files.

I know of know way of compressing a video enough to get it small enough to email. To share the video you can use Dropbox, SugarSync or one of the other services discussed on this website: Missing in iCloud page 3. Also look at the File Sharing section on the same page.


Another alternative would be to get a YouTube or Vimeo account and share them that way. With YouTube you can restrict access to the videos if need be. Not sure about Vimeo.
