App Store update tab won't show or allow updates on iPad but will on iPhone?

Our iPad mini or iPad 2 won't show the updates for the apps. It will show the number of updates available but when you select it won't open. It will open all the other tabs however, I.e. purchased, features, etc.

iPad, iOS 6.1.3

Logging out of my AppleID and logging it back in just resolved this issue for me!

If you're not are of how to do this, go to

>> Settings

>> iTunes & App Stores

Top of page, click

>> [Apple ID]

>> [Sign Out]

Then, top of page, complete fields

>> Apple ID

>> Password

>> Click [Sign In]

Wait a few minutes, then open System > App Store again.

Once I logged back in, the App Store wouldn't open immediately, but it DID open when I tried a few minutes later. It's still opening on continued attempts a half an hour later.

Good luck!

Darn - no luck with this for me. I had hopes, because it was one of the few semi-logical steps I hadn't tried yet. Unfortunately, I'm still seeing the same behavior. The badge indicates there are available updates, but the Update tab in the App Store remains stubbornly blank. The rest of the tabs work normally.

For what it's worth, after signing back into my AppleID and opening the App Store, I left that tab open for 10 minutes or more. That should have been plenty of time for results, since the Purchased tab clearly recognizes my ID.

I'm actually thinking that leaving the Update tab in App Store open for a long time won't do it. I'm thinking that closing it, waiting a while, and opening it again is what was needed.

I'm thinking this because when Update is opened, it makes a request to a server. If that request fails to arrive, fails to execute, or the results don't appear, I'm thinking that additional requests aren't sent. (I'm thinking this due to my limited Apple product experience, past behavior I've seen.) I'm thinking that you have to manually send any additional requests by re-opening Updates.

FWIW, the whole 2 days my Updates wouldn't open, my Purchased DID open. Purchased recognized my Apple ID and behaved properly while Updates did not. That speaks to me of a different server/cluster receiving the request. I didn't try Featured, Top Charts, or Genius during the period when Updates wouldn't open but Purchased did open, sorry.
