Notes won't sync between iPhone & MacBook Pro.

I'm running OS 10.8.4 and can't seem to get Notes on the Mac to sync with the notes of my iPhone. I've tried signing out of iCloud on both devices and this didn't work. Here's the weird part... when I signed back in, the Notes on the Mac returned and the Notes on the iPhone returned, but neither device had the same notes. To clarify, each device had different notes despite being signed into iCloud and having selected to sync Notes. When I signed out of iCloud, each device was showing no notes at all. When I signed back in, each device repopulated with it's own previous notes list, but neither synced to each other. Everything else iCloud related seems to be working fine. And, yes, I do only have one Apple ID and it is being used on both devices. Flummoxed!

I have solved mine after having sync problems of notes. I have 3iphones and macpro with same apple id. Most of the time they are sync upto date but sometimes they are delayed for days or out of sync forever. I made them all sync by playing with them and somehow finally now they are all sync'ed. How? Made sure all devices are upto date with latest OS version, made sure all notes are sync "on" at Settings iCloud, all the devices are reset by turning them off and back on. then from my mac pro, lunched iCloud.com. Login. Go to notes, and started typing in where some notes were not at sync'ed. Then suddenly I saw all the notes were beginning to sync infront of my eyes instantaneously. I justed wanted them to sync and they worked. I am sure it is going to happen again. Since i did not fixed the problem but i am guessing iCloud sync sometimes get stuck and hunged like any electronic devices. Wish there was manual sync(push) function in notes in case auto sync is not working. Or sometype of refresh.

I'm having this exact same situation. Notes on my iPhone appear on the iCloud web interface, but did not sync with Notes on my MacBook Pro. I've tried removing and reactivating iCloud accounts on all of my devices, but it appears to still consistently have two separate storage areas for what's on my phone vs. what's on my MBP - even when using the exact same iCloud login and password on all devices.

To add to it, when I login to iCloud on the web interface, not only do I see the notes for my iPhone, but it does NOT list my MBP as one of the devices signed into the iCloud account. It does list my Mac Pro desktop, and the iPhone.

So here's where it got weird ... I went to my desktop Mac Pro, open Notes, and it started sync'ing everything - it could see notes from the MBP as well as the iPhone, and after it was done, those all seemed to consolidate together in the iCloud web interface. So now my MBP could see notes from the Mac Pro, and iCloud -- but new notes still didn't sync up from the iPhone.

Eventually I got fed up, opened an account with Simplenote.com, transferred everything there and deleted the Notes app from my iPhone. Sigh.

10.9.5 on the laptop - since you linked to the upgrade article, I gather that I need to update my OS X version on the Laptop for notes sync to work again? That seems like a major change needed to solve syncing issues, but thank you for pointing me in that direction.

I've been holding off on upgrading on my Laptop, because I make extensive use of ScanSnap / DevonThink software there which until recently has had major problems with PDF handling under the latest version of OS X.
