charging cable keeps breaking; it starts charging and then "beeps" and stops, won't charge. It's my 5th one! Just replaced at the Apple Retail Store. What makes them break in about 3 weeks?

Wnen you disonnect the cable, are you pulling by the wire or the Lightning connector? The problem could also be in the phone docking end - dirty or damaged contact (especially if you yank the cable out by the wire.
Even after the atmost care taken using the cable, it continues to break.
Not sure why this is not considered by Apple and come up with a better cable after so many users the world has this serious problem
I have 3 Lightning cables. All well over a year old. All work perfectly. So most likely it is something to do with the way you are using it.

Like Lawrence, I've never had a cable fail. The fact that you've had that many fail would indicate you're doing something to them. Do you wrap the cable around the phone while it's still plugged in? When you have it plugged into charge, do you have some slack in the cable?
