no service on iphone 4 new sim

I just took over my sisters old iphone 4 got my orange sim cut and it was working fine for the first few hours. Was playing around with it and signed into my apple I'd then all of a sudden I had no service and can't seem to regain it. Iv turned it off and on again but to no avail. As I don't reallyknow what I'm doing I don't want to mess around doing things that could mess it up worse. Do I need to sync it to my own I tunes or just restore it all together?

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

The phone is now saying no sim installed. Im wondering if the sim was cut wrong but it was eorking perfectly before

Remove and reinsert the SIM card. IF this happens again, get a new SIM card from your carrier.

Iv tried this already, the sim itself isn't damaged the chip is fully intact so surely there's another solution I don't really want to go without a phone as I really need it during the next few days

I wouldn't waste anymore time and take modular747's advice and just get a new sim from your carrier 🙂

Why do people cut the sim in the first place? I will never understand this...

Because orange charge an extra £10 per month just to have a microsim and many people just cut the normal sized sim which works as well. It was working fine before so I'm wondering if its to do with the phone not the sim
