13" MacBook, Late 2008, new battery won't hold charge longer than 2hours 40 minutes.

I have a 13" MacBook, late 2008 model. Just purchased a new battery from Apple. Fully charged, then full drained, fully charged again, battery will only last 2 hours and 40 minutes.

I have also noticed that my trackpad seems to JUMP about 1/2" from where I have the curser located.

Currently running 10.7.5 OS.

Any sugguestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Terry

2 hours and 40 minutes sounds like a reasonable amount of time for a 2008 a MacBook running Lion if you are working on the computer during that time.

The battery life of your MacBook will depend on what you are doing on the computer. Things like connecting to Wi-Fi and the brightness of your screen will affect how long your battery lasts. Take a look at these links for tips on increasing your battery life:

If you continue to notice a short battery life, you might want to reset the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

You can also take it into the Apple Store for them to check it.
