Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
My batter was working fine but then got stuck on 19% and then just randomly died i let it charge after it powered off and it went to 12%.then it didnt move. i powered it off and turned it on again it dropped to 3 percent. Its stuck on 3% and if i disconnect it, it powers off and the percentage stays on 3% do i have a faulty battery or a faulty iphone? help me!
iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3, my phone is almost 4 years old

Sorry, but this is most likely a hardware issue and I have no way to test your battery over the internet.
Try the suggestions already given here (Reset, Restore, DFU mode then Restore) and if they do not work you will know it is a hardware issue.
thats what i think the issue isbut then what has me wondering is why the battery sometimes freezes at a certain percentage an then powers off.

You've been given answers and some options for solutions. Your response has been, "thanks for telling me something i already know." Don't be surprised if this turns out to be the end of the answers.
Because the battery has become unstable and needs to be replaced.
