Macbook Air SSD failure?

I've had my MBA for just under a year, and the SSD failed today. I saw the dreaded white screen. I took it into an Apple store, and they are having to replace the SSD. Unfortunately, they didn't have the one I need in stock. So, it will be a few days. I'll be lost without my MBA. LOL

Has anyone else had issues with SSD failure on MBA? I hope this is not a common issue. Luckily, it is still under warrants. The part was about $800.

The controller is part of the SSD. You can't have one without the other. Every SSD has a cotroller inside the package.

So your post is irrelevant.

On the SandForce controller:

Hi, my ssd failed last night when I was trying to click on a video(md231) , it's just frozen and never came back, I had to force restart and here we go---- a blinking question mark! That was a peaceful gone...

Just out of warranty 2 months.

After seen so many ssd failures on mid-2012 MBA, I seriously doubt the quality of Toshiba ssds installed inside of them! Is it a trick for broken at almost the same time around one year, just out of warranty?

I don't have apple store around, I'm not in the US now, and I got important files for exams! What can I do!!!?

My SSD failed now for the second time on my MBA mid 2012. First time 3 months after original purchase May 2012 and now it failed again just outside of warranty.

I am in NL and Apple told me that there was no free reperation or one time extended warranty. Since it is a bussiness laptop there is no "consumer law" that extends the warranty to the EU two years. Now working on my 4 year old MacBook Pro that is still going strong. It is to bad that the issue (here at least) is not recognized by Apple..

That's not what they're telling me (Apple UK). I pointed out various threads discussing the issue and the guy told me that nothing was flagged on their systems as being a widespread problem.

If you read through this thread you will see Apple is covering it out of warranty.

Then tell them to Check Again. This is a Wide Spread problem that seems will affect all mid 2012 MBA models that have a Toshiba SSD.

I would contact Apple directly by calling the Applecare phone number for the UK.

That's not true. Just took my MBA in to US apple store. Showed them this discussion, they searched the system. There is no know. Issue. People must call AppleCare and tell them the problem and ask them to elevate so Apple can investigate. Without that, the company will not acknowledge the problem. Make the call. Save your receipts.
