Can anyone tell me how to remove the Yahoo Toolbar?

A Yahoo Toolbar recently showed up at the top of the MyYahoo page. It shows up just below the Safari toolbar. I have checked and there does not seem to be a Safari extension controlling this.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it?

I checked all of those places and found nothing that is easily identifiable as belonging to Yahoo.

I remembered that I had an external hard drive with a system image on it that I had not used in at least a year. I reasoned that, if this toolbar was added as an extension or plug-in that had been installed in the last 3-6 months, if I booted from the external hard drive it would not show up.

I booted from the external drive, started Safari and went to My.Yahoo and signed in and the extra toolbar showed up.

From this I conclude that, unlike some other extra toolbars I have seen discussed, this extra toolbar is a hard-coded feature of the My.Yahoo pages and is not done using extensions or plug-ins that could be removed by the end user.

I think I need to extend my search for a Yahoo setting or "preference" to tweak.

If that is the case, it would seem I should redirect my discussion of this issue to some sort of Yahoo forum.

Do you concur? I will start to locate whatever Yahoo forums I can (and if I find the answer, will come back here and post a link). In the meantime, do you have any particular suggestions as to where I should look?

That was exactly what I meant.

And that solved my problem because now I do not see that toolbar.

Since it solved my problem at the basic level, I have indicated "This solved my question"

I have a follow-up question, though: Now, instead of the toolbar, I see a space of that height with nothing in it. Did I miss something, or is it possible to shrink that space to zero height?

My filter setting is the same.

By the way, the same thing happens when I choose to hide the Yahoo search area -- I get about a one-inch area at the top of the window where the Yahoo search area used to be.

What happens when you do that?

I have customized the look of my My.Yahoo pages. I wonder if that might be the difference. Is your customized?

No

The same as you describe - you'd need to alter the css using something like Quickstyle to override the html{padding-top:83px!important; which retains the gap regardless of removing the elements within.

padding-top:0px!important; works here - see the screenshot below. Do record any quickstyle settings elsewhere, and/or note the warning on the page about removing local storage.
