There is a blank (black) clip appearing in place of the clips I have deleted in the timeline.

There is a blank (black) clip appearing in place of the clips I have deleted in the timeline. I can delete this blank block but this gets annoying as I have to do this everytime then shift the clips up. Does anyone know how I can delete clips from the timeline without this black gap appearing in replacemnet? Many thanks to whoever can help me, I'm sure it's a simple settings issue. Heidi

What are you doing to delete the clip? Pressing the delete key, pressing shift-delete, pressing the forward delete key? The latter two will replace a clip with a gap clip. Maybe you're using a menu command. Which one?

I'm definitely not using the command key, only the delete function. Any other clues?

Post screen shots. Which keyboard? Which delete key? Next to the equals sign? Extended keyboard? Apple keyboard? Which language?

Use Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion to trash your preferences.

Hi Tom

Sorry for delayed reply I have been on leave. You have worked out my problem! Using the large delete key on a full max extended key board (below the eject key) deletes the whole clip, whislt the little delete key (left of 'end') deletes the clip and leaves a black box.
