Is it still possible to set up a hotmail account in Mail?

You need to go to Hotmail > Account Settings > Security and Password > App Passwords > Create New App Password (if one doesn't exist already).

This is what you enter as your password for your email account login instead of the usual "hotmail password". This worked for me on my iPhone 5S.

i would think that you have found your proplem by now but if not i had same problem and the cause was not apple it was in live.com setting i had to enable pop and the email just sinc just like my phone or ipad...have a good day

Hi, I am using Mac OS X v10.11.5 and I can't get my hotmail account set up. I have tried both the POP and IMAP settings and I am not able to load the account. Every time I try to activate the account it asks for the password and once I enter the correct password I get an error: "Unable to verify account name or password". I've already tried updating all the settings as per the conversation in this post and nothing works. Please help!
