ERROR when trying to print to EPSON 1400, RASTERTOESCPII Any suggestions please?

I downloaded after S/W update said I had new printer S/W available, NOT positive this caused problem, but sure can't print now from any Apps. I D/L new Combo S/W from Epson, but didn't resolve. I de-installed using Epson CD, but still not resolved. Same Error. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks I am running OS 10.6.8

Hello,

Mac OS X: About the Reset Printing System feature ...

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341?viewlocale=en_US

10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8 instructions...

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.

if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.

Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.

Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++

1. To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:

2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

3. Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.

4. Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."

As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

Step by step, had to do it twice, before printer was not visable, installed Epson CD, did a remove S/W, restarted and did a basic install will Epson CD. Tried to print and was prompted to ADD a printer which I did and VOILA!!!

I am back in business. Also had to install my Epson Scanner S/W and Mac sees and runs it perfectly.

Thanks a million!!!!!

Add me to the list of those who can no longer print after installing Apple's recent printers S/W update. I have multiple printers and cannot print with any of them. I've tried re-setting the printer system and deleting the printers, but they are still there. Would definitely be interested in whether we should ignore future S/W printer updates. What a hassle and mess.

Buck_W,

I followed BDAua's instructions above, and used the original EPSON S/W disk to de-install all software afterwards. I restarted, and checked to see NO printer was visiable. I then installed the S/W on Epson disk and tried to print from MAIL, was prompted to ADD the printer, which I did and all was perfect again & printing. I also had to re-install Epson Scanner disk, and it also was visable like normal.

I have ignored the immediate Apple software update notice about new S/W available for my printer.... Fugetaboutit!

Hope this helps?

I have followed the steps as well and now I am able to print from the paper tray, but I am still uinable to print on CD's. I've been on the phone with Epson support for more than an hour and they can't seem to figure out what the problem is. All I know is that I was printing flawlessly (CD and paper) until I ran Apple's Software Update.

I haven't done an extensive search of these boards, does anyone know whether Apple has acknowledged the problem and posted a solution? It's exasperating.
