I experienced the following suspiciously virus-like event. I was watching **** and suddenly my email was activated with a message to apple that my phone was infected and all of my information was at risk. This same email draft kept continuously generating a new email over and over. I could not close it or stop it. I briskly turned off my phone. When I restarted my phone I was able (in a few minutes with fast fingers) to delete all of my email accounts on my phone before the same thing started happening again. Only now, I had no email accounts for it to activate but it just kept trying to generate a continuous string of new emails, leaving me with basically a blank white screen. When I tried to close, my home screen would flash for a second, then back to email opening to a white screen. Now I couldn't even turn the phone off. Even Siri couldn't ("regretfully") help me power off the phone. Luckily my battery was almost dead. I immediately removed my SIM card and let the phone die. When my phone had recharged, I turned it on and with the SIM card still removed, was able to delete all of my apps, stored internet data, safari, and cut off all access to the internet. When I reinstalled the SIM card, my phone is working again, albeit only for phone calls and texts. I am afraid to reconnect to the internet.
My Question: Is this not a VIRUS? ***? And can I just replace the SIM card to have my phone back?
