Epson Printer Filter Failure with rastertoescpII

I recently updated my Epson drivers via Software Update. Now when I try to print, I get an error message of a "filter failure" and that "rastertoescpII quit unexpectedly".

In the log file it says:

(/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Contents/MacOS /rastertoescpII) crashed on signal 11

I have tried resetting the printing system via the Print & Scan preferences and downloading & installing the Epson Printer Software 2.15 (downloaded from the Apple support site). But nothing seems to help.

When I go to the Epson driver download page, it says that I can only get drivers via Software Update.

Does anybody have suggestions?

My computer name was already there under sharing so not the solution for me. However my French is just good enough to read the last post and I re-entered the router settings on my printer"......et voila. Merci beaucoup.

Im having the same 'filte' failed error i have a EPSON Stylus Photo R1800 and i just updated the driver to 9.00 and still cannot print. please help ive tried changing computer name numerous times

Amazing! Been troubleshooting this all day, even bought a new cord (not the problem it turns out). Changed my computer name and I'm printing again (Epson Artisan 50). Thanks Yuengdog!

An alternative option is to use third-party printer drivers for your Epson printer, such as the Gutenprint driver pack for OS X. To do this, go to the Gutenprint Web site and download the latest version of the drivers. Install them, and then go to the Print & Scan system preferences, remove your printer, and then re-add it. When you select your printer device, choose "Select Software" from the "Use" menu for the driver to use, and then locate the driver for your printer model, making sure you select the one that says "Gutenprint" in the name. If there are multiple such drivers, then you can try adding one, but if it fails then remove the printer and re-add it, using one of the other drivers.
