iCloud Calendars Changing Colors

I have used the iCloud calendar flawlessly for months between my macbook pro, and my iPhone 5. I have 3 calendars (School, Work, and Events) and they have always synced between my phone and laptop perfectly. I noticed just last night (Aug. 13th.) that the small color icons on each calendar are changing by themselves. It is very frustrating, is anyone else having this problem?

I will change them back to the colors they originally were, and without clicking or touching anything else, wait a few seconds and watch them change. It seems that whenever it refreshes or tries to sync, they change randomly - sometimes with more than one calendar being the same color. I tried turning off all wireless activity on both my macbook and iPhone, and resetting the colors on both, but the moment I turn wifi/data back on, they start randomly changing again.

Any ideas?

I gave up on waiting for Apple to address this issue and decided to try to fix it myself. So far - approximately 5 hours since making the changes - everything seems to be completely back to normal and stable.

In brief, I exported each of my problem calendars, created new calendars with the colors that I want them to be, and imported the entries back into the new calendars.

If you'd like to give this a try yourself, take the following steps for each of your misbehaving calendars:

1. Export the calendar to a file (e.g., Personal.ics, with "Personal" being the name of the calendar exported).

2. Create a new calendar with a temporary name (e.g., "Personal 2") and assign it a color.

3. Import the calendar entries from the original calendar into the new calendar.

4. After importing, you'll have duplicate entries from the original calendar. Leave them alone for the moment.

5. Allow iCloud time to sync the new entries. Depending on how many entries you have in your calendar, it may take a little while (one of mine took over 20 minutes for a few thousand entries).

6. After iCloud has finished its sync, delete the original calendar in order to remove the duplicate entries.

7. If desired, rename the new calendar to the name you used on the original calendar.

Like I said, this seems to have worked for me, so hopefully it will for you, too. It's a little disheartening and concerning that Apple couldn't address this on its own last week.

I used to have the same problem many months ago and it got rectified somehow. However, since I updated to iOS7 the problem has returned again. I have tried turning off the calendar function in the iCloud settings but to no avail. I share a calendar with my wife and have a personal calendar along with my work one. It is my work calendar which is the problem one. I noticed in an earlier post about the colour change from green to purple, this is the same issue I have with my work calendar.

It is most frustrating and annoying, it does beg the question as to the security of the whole iCloud function, something I have been sceptical and suspicious of.

I look forward to a resolution to this issue!
