I have a 2004 eMac that won't connect to the internet. I have a Clear wireless modem that i can connect to with other devices wirelessly but not my eMac. It doesn't have Airport and I can't figure out why it wont connect through ethernet cable. Ive tried different ethernet cables. Any suggestions?
eMac 1.25, Mac OS X (10.3.9)
Hello, it shouldn't have any trouble connecting to that Modem via Ethernet!?
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
Does the Ethernet show any IP at all in System Preferences>Network>TCP/IP tab?
Is Configure IPv4 set to Using DHCP?
Hmmm, no other computer? With the iPhone, does it show a Router IP?
I dont have another comp to plug in unfortunatly. It does show the Router on my iphone its the same as the DNS. Manually had no luck tho. All i can think now is to take it somewhere to have someone check it out.
It certainly is strange, my eMac can connect to a Clear Modem no problem, Ethernet, Wifi, or USB Wifi, 10.4.11 or 10.5.8.
Yeah especially since it used to work fine. Just stopped after a reboot. Usually fixes itself after a couple days but its been weeks now. Hmm.
Freaking crazy and i've tried this before a few times but i just deleted my ethernet and re-added it and tried the using DHCP.....found it no problem and its working finally. Crazy. Wont recognize the USB wifi tho and i tried the same thing. Computers, sheesh.

If this happens again, I'd suspect mainly a RAM problem corrupting files.
