Ipad Recognized As Camera In XP

When I plug my new ipad 2 into my Windows XP PC usb while running itunes, it does not show up in itunes under devices. When I plug ipad into usb, pop-up appears that indicates XP thinks its a camera. If I troubleshoot as per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 and go to Device Manager, the ipad appears as Apple Ipad under Imaging Devices, instead of as Apple Mobile Device USB Driver under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as it apparently should.

I tried updating driver as per TS1538 but when I select C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers\usbaapl file, it says its not the right file for my device or something to that effect.

I can sync my ipod with itunes no problem, just not my ipad.

I’ve tried updating itunes but it says its up to date already.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, I've tried all the troubleshooting docs. The one that came closest is the one I referenced in my original post but the driver file did not work.

When I plug in my ipad, an autoplay type screen opens indicating my PC thinks the ipad is a camera. This is confirmed in Device Manager.

Looks like I will have to try reinstalling itunes on my PC. Strange, when I search this forum all sorts of people seem to be having this issue but no fix in any of the threads.
