Sony Receiver w/AirPlay can I stream from my iPad to my HDTV?

I'm not very techy so before I spend much time trying this I thought I'd ask if it's even possible.

I recently purchased a Sony Receiver and one of the features is AirPlay.

Would I be able to stream Netflix (with the app) from my iPad through my Sony Receiver to my Sony HDTV?

Hey janice283,

In order to use AirPlay Mirroring, which is what you're talking about, you'll need the following:

iPhone 4S (or later), iPad 2 (or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)
Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)
Wi-Fi (802.11a/g/n) network

Since your Sony Receiver has AirPlay but you do not have an Apple TV, you can use the receiver to play streamed audio from an AirPlay-enabled iOS device like your iPad, or iTunes on your computer.
