imported project from logic pro 9. the audio tracks from project show waveform. i recorded new audio tracks in X but the track shows blue with line. see image below. how can i get it to show the waveform like the other tracks? must be something easy...

Dan, do the tracks play?
If so, you may have the "Recording Delay" in Logic's Preferences/Audio set to something other than Zero!
Should always be at zero.
thanks for the response - they definitely play, they were recorded properly. and yes the delay value is 0. any other ideas? thanks, dan
That's the "Recording Delay"... right? In Logic's Preference/Audio/ the same place you set the Buffer I/O settings and Input/Output device.
There's been reports of several values off the scale in Imported Logic 9 projects, the location is in the Inspector.
Select the Audio track with the flat waveform and look at the Inspector values for that track, anything look out of place?
Other than that I guess you could try 'Refresh Overviews"

The refresh overviews is in the audio file menu of the file editor (not track editor).
I think your problem is one of the first not fixed by resetting the Record Delay to zero, you sure the record level is hot enough, what if you enlarge the tracks a bit.
thanks but where is Audio File Menu of the file editor? I don't think Apple did a extensive job with the help file, I can't find any information in there.
Nothing happens if I enlarge the tracks. I used the same microphone and input and settings as the ones from Logic 9 that look fine..

OK actually you are right, the audio is quite quiet... thanks for your help....
I don't know... I'm on Logic 9 it's in a different place in X, I copied that answer from someone else using the program.
I imagine it means the Audio File Editor, double click on the Audio File and it will open the Audio Editor, it's probably in one of the menus related to that.

I have also experienced this issue as a result of having recording delay set other than zero, and rectified it by returning to 0.
Otherwise,
[Command 8] or
Window > Open Project Audio, select audio files that appear flatline, click 'Audio File' menu at top left, click 'Refresh Overview(s)'.
No way I know of to auto-enable this.

It is always enabled, except when the recording delay setting is not zero. I heard of this only once or twice, in all other cases it is people messing around with the setting and forgetting about it, or people recording at such low levels that the waveform becomes so small that it is no longer visible without zooming in. The latter has nothing to do with the overviews.
