imported project from logic pro 9. the audio tracks from project show waveform. i recorded new audio tracks in X but the track shows blue with line. see image below. how can i get it to show the waveform like the other tracks? must be something easy...

You are a genius. Thanks. I've been having this problem for a while now and didn't know you could refresh the overviews.
My problem wasn't the recording delay issue. But another way you can REFRESH THE OVERVIEWS is by double clicking the audio region to open the SAMPLE EDITOR and then going into the audio file menu!!!
