Keynote PDF conversion is too large. The PDF save function should allow compression options.

The Keynote program saves PDF files in too large a compression format.

PowerPoint allows high or low resolution save options that greatly reduce the file size for sharing.

Keynote should provide at least two choices for PDF compression.

Thank you for this suggestion. I was not aware that you could do this in Preview. Nevertheless, it really should be available within the Keynote save function. This solution still involves many more steps than is required in PPT running on Windows. The MS PowerPoint running on Mac also does not allow PDF saving in a smaller format. At least you have provided me with a get around until Apple chooses to add this important feature to Keynote.

One additional note is that the Quartz filter will reduce the file size only by half, while the Windows PPT save function will reduce it to a quarter of the original size with very little degradation. This is a more friendly sharing compression level than is available in Preview.

No - you cannot run it through Preview more than once to make it smaller, but thanks again for the tip.
