Games from Mac to ATV via Airplay

Hello. Why is it not possible to play games from my Macbook pro (Mountain Lion) with ATV (3rd generation) via Airplay mirroring? I can mirror my desk top and watch movies and online video streams with no problem but games lag terribly. On the Macbook screen they run flawlessly but freeze and stutter on the ATV. I have tried this connected via ethernet as well as wirelessly and the result is the same. If ATV is just mirroring the screen of my Mac then surely it shouldn't matter what the source of the signal is?

playing a game have a hard demand on the cpu, and video card

mirroring have a hard demand on the cpu and video card

playing a movie don't have that hard demand on the cpu and the video card

just showing the desktop don't have that hard demand on the cpu and the video card

you're doing 2 things at once which put preasure on your computer hardware this cause lag

if you want to play games on the tv screen using a cable is the best path
