MacBook - Safe to use on your Lap?

I received an interesting comment from Apple's tech support by two seperate reps regarding the incredible heat issues of my MacBook, they said "The MacBook is a notebook and you aren't supposed to use it on your lap, that is why it's called a notebook not a laptop."

What gives? Is the MacBook a laptop? Do people use this thing on their lap and just tolerate the tremedous heat/burns?

MacBook 2.0ghz, Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I am sorry but I do not believe (quoted from the above article) "a 50-year-old man burned his ***** while using a laptop balanced on his legs for an hour"

What was he doing ?

I think using it on your lap is fine - you can tell when it is getting hot and maybe that is a sign to go to the pub. The laptop will have cooled down by the time you get back.

Just my thoughts.

Happy MB user.
