Has anyone noticed a high-pitch squeal (very high and quiet, but audible). When I first heard it, I didn't realize the mouse was causing it, but then I noticed that every time I moved the mouse (this is the mouse that came packed with my 20" core duo), I heard the squeal. Using the scroll button does not cause the sound, only moving the mouse. It starts when moving the cursor, and stops a second (or so) after you quit moving. Other mice I've tried do not cause this squeal. It's a shame, because I'm actually getting used to the mighty mouse (and I've never liked mice: always been a trackball user). I especially like the tiny scrollball on the mighty mouse: best feel and response of any scrolling device I've used: and it even scrolls sideways!
Anyway, does anyone esle hear this high-pitch sound? It's starting to bug me.

hi john61254 - I've never run across anything quite like your squeaky problem.
My only suggestion would be to plug and unplug mouse and see if that helps (I assume you probably have been doing this all along) or you can plug the keyboard into another USB port... or even change the mouse pad or sans the mouse pad and see if this makes a difference... if you find no solution, it could be as simple as a defective mouse and I would call APPLE... Good luck, pay it forward, Rick

I haven't experienced this myself, but I've heard reports about squealing mice before. The noise occurs when, after a few seconds of not moving the mouse, the LED light is dimmed (for power saving).
I don't think it's a defect that will cause functional problems, but it sure is annoying... if you go to an Apple Store they'll probably just swap you a new mouse.
Actually, my noise occurs while moving the mouse, and ends about a second after I stop. As long as I am moving the mouse, I get a very faint high pitched steady tone, and it ends about a second after I quit moving the cursor. Scrolling (using the tiny scrollball) coes not cause any sound. It seems to be independant of what program I am in. In fact, now that I listen closely, when the mouse is idle (no high pitch noise) I hear a very low background noise (more like a rumble or very quiet buzz) coming from the computer. I just thought it was normal noise. But I notice that when I move the mouse, that low "rumble/buzz" vanishes and is replaced by the high pitch tone. I can see they are related.
And it's definitely tied to the "mighty mouse". If I unplug it, all the above noises disappear. Plug it back in and they return. I'll report the problem to Apple.
