I bought this computer about 3 years ago. Today I come to unplug my macbook and the gray part that is magnetizes got stuck in the computer. I am left with the cord that has 5 little golden rods coming out at the end of it. I tried putting it back together and hopping that it would come out but the gray part is still stuck there.😟
So, I guess I have to buy a new charger but how can I get the gray part out of the socket???

You should just be able to pull it out - the magnet is not on the adapter end, but rather on the computer itself. If you're not able to simply pull it out, it may be burned. If I were you, I would take the machine to an Apple Store/AASP and let them see if they can get it out - and get a new charger/adapter while you're there!

Easy, its just a ceramic neodymium magnet, grab some needle nosed pliers and gently pull it out.
WITH THE POWER OFF.
You can easily reattach it to the charger end with binary (2 part) 2-ton epoxy,...it takes 24 hours to cure, even the "1 hour" epoxy binary still should not be used for at least 7 hours.
Its possible Apple could give you a replacement charger without charging you, but I doubt it given the age. Take it in and find out
IF you glue it yourself, do NOT use superglue, ...it wont last in affixing the ceramic neodymium to the charger end. Use binary epoxy you can find anywhere.
If the neodymium isnt broken, I wouldnt buy a new charger for $80, just epoxy it and let it cure for 24 hours. But thats your choice 😊
