Yahoo Mail Flicker Issue

Since Yahoo Mail introduced their new look, I've been experiencing a very annoying flicker issue which only occurs when I move the cursor down line-by-line over each email. If I swipe the cursor across multiple emails, that section grays out briefly. I've Googled the issue and only found links relating to a flicker on iPad. Am hoping someone will be able to help.

I'm using Safari 6.0.5 on iMac (late 2012) running OS X 10.8.4.

Ok Chris ..

Try a Safe Mode boot ...

Startup your Mac in Safe Mode

A Safe Mode boot takes a longer than a normal boot so be patient.

Once you are in Safe Mode, click Restart from the Apple () menu.

Then try Safari.

Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins ...

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that off if there are any installed. Quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn extensions back on then uninstall one a time to test.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Might be a cache issue.....

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Hi, Carolyn!

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not work and I am still experiencing the flicker issue even after moving the Cache.db folder to the trash, closing Safari, and restarting my iMac.

Looking forward to other suggestions!

Nope. Still no worky.

In addition to your suggestions, I also (but seperately) unchecked "Enable JavaScript" -- this seemed to make a difference in that it reverted Yahoo Mail to it's most basic form and the flicker did indeed disappear. Re-enabling JavaScript brought the flicker back. So, we might be onto something with JavaScript being the possible culprit.

In that case, you may have to put up with the flicker in Safari because your system software is up to date,

Since you are using a non Apple mail client, you could try Yahoo mail on another browser to see if it's more compatible and good to have a backup browser installed in case you have serious issues with Safari.

Try Firefox > Mozilla Firefox Web Browser — Free Download — mozilla.org

Or Chrome > Chrome Browser

Same annoying issue here with mine. If you have found any remedy please do update 🙂

I have been using chrome for yahoomail ever since as the problem only occurs with safari browser.

This is an irritating problem I'm having too. Scrolling of long pdfs in Safari under Mountain Lion is also painfully slow and jumpy. Doesn't seem to happen in Chrome.

odd, i have a serious flicker problem using yahoo mail in firefox, but it works fine in safari!
