New Time Capsule 2Tb disconnected from power/wifi...strange

Bought TC 2Tb 2 days ago (EU)

Install it... upgrade it ...works good (connected to 5GHz)

Went to sleep to whole night at 1AM

Left everything TC and Mac working (sleep disabled)

Wake up in morning at 7.30AM

And see that green light not working

No any wifi signal from TC

Disconnect power cord - connect it back: start working again

P.S.: Yesterday in the miggle of day TC also disconnected and I do same procedure - works again (check picture)

/Airport Utility 6.3.1 (631.4)

/TC version 7.7.1

Why this happens guys?

Ok - then there's some bug in the software.

In my set up - the AirPort Extreme/Time Capsule is feeding 2 Old Airport Expresses used to extend the network in Bridge mode. I haven't bothered to turn Time capsule on yet for any backup.

There's an old PB 17", a MacPro, an iMac, 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 iPods and a Macmini. Plus kids friends with their stuff coming and going on the network. No problems at all.

Except when the MBA is connected by wifi - weird.

Came in this morning and it was off again. This time, I brought an extra ethernet cable. Front light is off and if I try using a LAN port, I get no signal/light and the ethernet port never comes up. So when it's off, it's really off.

Time for this to go back to the Apple Store. I'll try one replacement. Past that, I'll head to another brand. As it is now, I haven't started using Time Machine because I didn't trust the unit.

lol - yep when it shuts down it really turns itself off !

There's something flaky there, I can't put my finger on it and you may be best to return it.

I am considering returning mine but feel its software and I only have the problem when the MBA is connected wifi.... so I'll stick with it and hope Apple release a fix. The MBA is being used with another monitor so can be hard wired at home. Third day now without a disconnect/shutdown.

You can see from my setup, posted above, that it's quite complex. The connection is very stable and fast with multiple devices coming and going. Doesn't help you, I sympathise, because it's bloody annoying when it shuts down for no apparent reason.

Just got back from the Apple Store. Past the 90 day window, so I can't return it for a downgrade to just an AE, and they're out of stock. Should have a new unit in 1-2 days.

The tech said they're a ticket in the system that engineers are, and aren't looking into it. So, maybe they're not and were, or they just don't have enough data yet. He also said the AE and TC are exactly the same, just without a hard drive.

I am having the same problem. Had my Airport TC (2TB) for two weeks and it keeps losing power. Green light just goes out. I can power it up again and it works but that is obviously not a long term solution.

It seems to happen when my son switches to his user account but cannot be sure.

I think I am going to send it back but it does seem like a bug rather than a hardware fault.

Cheers,

Matthew.

Just to let anyone know, monitored my Time Capsule for about a month and still had occaisional random power outs. Took it to local Apple Repair Centre and it was replaced in a matter of days (after testing) with a brand new model. Have had no power outs with new model. If it is under warranty, I would go for the replacement...

Cheers,

Matthew.
