New Time Capsule 2Tb disconnected from power/wifi...strange

Bought TC 2Tb 2 days ago (EU)

Install it... upgrade it ...works good (connected to 5GHz)

Went to sleep to whole night at 1AM

Left everything TC and Mac working (sleep disabled)

Wake up in morning at 7.30AM

And see that green light not working

No any wifi signal from TC

Disconnect power cord - connect it back: start working again

P.S.: Yesterday in the miggle of day TC also disconnected and I do same procedure - works again (check picture)

/Airport Utility 6.3.1 (631.4)

/TC version 7.7.1

Why this happens guys?

I have the same problem with my time capsule 2TB. I have two apple routers, this one and an airport express. The express is set up as a network extender in a different part of the house. Last week I switched them so that the airport express became the main router and the time capsule became the extender (switched locations also). For a week I had no problems with either, then I switched them back and 24 hours later I noticed the time capsule had turned off in the middle of the day again.

Can the problem only happen while in router mode and not in extender mode?

If the problem is a voltage issue at the wall outlet, then why is this the only device that shut itself off? Even if the voltage at my outlet is not perfect, the apple device should be more robust and be able to handle it (like all the other devices on that outlet - including my airport express). I guess I'm going to the store tomorrow for a replacement.

Defintely take it back for a replacement. I monitored mine for a few weeks and it was intermittently switching itself off. Tried all sorts of things but same problem. My local Apple place swapped my Time Capsule under warranty without charge (although they did test the old one themselves for a day or two) and the new one has been rock solid, not turned off once...

Hope that helps,

Matthew.

I already replaced my TC 2Gb once due to this problem last year. The replacement worked fine for a few weeks, then the auto-turn off started again. First occasionally, like once every two/three weeks...Now it is back to two or three times per week...back to the Geniuses, I guess. Quite a disappointment, though. The first Apple product that I came across with serious problems...

I had a similar problem which I detailed above. I ended up exchanging the 2gb timecapsule twice and all three time capsules had the same exact problem. So if the problem is at the outlet, the time capsule is the only device that hiccups. No other devices have any problem including a new airport express and an old extreme. I just returned the time capsule and will use the express until apple solves this problem.

Hi All Time Capsule Sufferers:

I had the same issue and replaced it once. Then the trouble started again, and I went back for another replacement. One of the geniuses asked me what else I had hooked up to the UPS I am running this thing on. I said 'a laser printer'. He suggested to try to plug the laser printer in elsewhere and see if it worked (I seemed to have the problem one to three times per week). I am now in my fourth week, and it did not happen again after I plugged the laser printer (an old HP2200) into another outlet, away from the UPS. It seems that he may have been right in my case.

Previously I had a Cisco router and it kept losing Internet connection but not power. When I upgraded to this ATC, both of them seem to lose power and never come back on, unless I unplugged the power cord and plugged back in.

I know some devices can be very sensitive to power sags and this one may not have enough tolerance built in like other devices?? It is the only thing plugged into a brand new BBU, and I am waiting to see if it turns off. So far it has been 48 hours straight. However, the ATC has run up to 72 hours with no problems before. Will just have to wait and see.

I notice my lights dim when the Air Conditioner comes on and when the Laser printer starts up from a deep sleep, to print. I am beginning to wonder if it is the power.
