Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
The "InstallMac" search software was unintentionally downloaded to OS 10.7.5. I've followed all the removal instructions from their site but can't seem to get it taken care of. It opens a new tab in chrome to the installmac home page every time i open chrome. Any thoughts?

I have a easy way i just uninstalled it a couple of days ago.
open safari then go to safari preferences, then go to general and set your homepage.
remove the install.mac extension in extensions.
then you go to privacy and click details beside cookies and website data
search ins and remove installmac.

The method you describe is utterly inadequate to remove this adware. You need to see the instructions referenced earlier in this topic. Linc's instructions are a little outdated at this point, but the ones at the link I provided to my website (The Safe Mac) are up-to-date.

Unfortunately this discussion has grown old and Linc's instructions are no longer complete. I recommend you use the link that thomas_r. gave on Mar 10 or use his Adware Removal Tool or locate Linc's current instruction set, such as this.
Please help me remove InstallMac malware from my computer.
