Dictionary Development Kit

Hello All,

I am youst about to develop a dictionary which currently works fine on my MacBook. But I wonder if there is currently a possibility to convert it into a formate useful with any App for iPhone or iPad. And if yes, which App? Or does anyone know if there are plans to convert the Dictionary to iOS in next future? Might it even become a sandard App for iOS as well?

Thanks for any informations,

Juergen

Dear etresoft,

that means there is currently no iOS app available which could use the dictionaries for MacOs directly, right? But is there an iOS app on the market which might read the dictionary in a converted form? Finally, if the answer is no: are you aware of any iOS app able to read in dictionaries freely available in the network?

Thanks,

Juergen

Hi again,

I just found out about the hidden dictionary of iOS 6: when you switch from English to another default Language like e.g. German you can force the iPhone to load to the hidden dictionary app another library file, when you long click in that foreign language mode a word in Notes, Safari or iBook. It asks you then if it is ok to load e.g. a German dictionary. After switching back to English again it still has that German dictionary available and uses it, when you long click words in a German text in Notes, Safari or iBook.

Now I wonder if there is a way to tell the iPhone to load own selfmade dictionaries created on the Mac with the Dictionary Development Kit or dictionaries available in internet to the hidden dictionary. It would be great to have a bilingual dictionary in that hidden dictionary app not just a thesaurus explaining German words in German and English word in English!

Thus in short: can anybody out there tell me how to load selected libraries to the hidden dictionary app of iOS 6?

Thanks,

Juergen
