itunes 11 crashes when accessing the itunes store

When I upgraded to iTunes 11, it started crashed every time I accessed the iTunes Store. After doing some searching, I decided to try resetting TCPIP on my Windows 8 PC. Right after I did that, iTunes started accessing the iTunes Store immediately up startup, so it crashed immediately. My fix was to uninstall everything Apple related and delete the plist preference files. I also moved my library to a NAS device (not sure if that was necessary or not but at this point I'm scared to move it back). Then I restarted and installed iTunes 10.7. I had to recreate may library and I don't have any playlists (but I assume I can import them back in). In this whole process when I tried to log in to this community site I found out that I needed to update my password. Not sure if that was related or not. Also, I tried going back to version 11 and it started crashing immediately, so I went back through the steps and 10.7 is working. I haven't tried to access the iTunes store yet, though.

Stoberplace: Indeed, I had the same problem until today and i checked the whole available stuff online to fix this but it didnt work. I have done something myself today as below:

Download the istaller for the latest itunes from apple website and run it. it will ask you to either repair or remove as you would already have itunes installed on your computer.

Choose the repair option and let it complete all installation.

launch iTunes once installation finished and It should fix the problem.

At least it helped me. I couldnt figureout though what was missing or corrupted. I tried all above as well but fixed just now with the repair option.

Let me know.

I fixed it on my computer. Not sure which of the steps I did fixed it so I will list all of them.

I wasn't getting the error until I did the following (to prevent it from just crashing on logging into the iTunes Store)

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5561435?answerId=23987910022#23987910022

I added C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support; to the system variables PATH (depending on your operating system, your file path will be different). How to do that has been outlined in the above linked article.

This now caused DEP to freak out whenever I logged into the store and close iTunes. Adding iTunes to the DEP filter didn't solve the problem. So I removed all the saved system settings for iTunes and ran Apple Software Update. I also went to the DEP and added every .exe I could find in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple to the exceptions list (again, depending on your OS the file path may be different.)

To remove the saved system settings for iTunes you can find those in C:\Documents and Settings (for Win XP) or C:\Users (for Win 8). Find a folder named AppData or Application data under various user names and remove any Apple related files you can. I had one .log file that couldn't be deleted, but that shouldn't be a problem.
