What do you mean exactly by "won't let me re-download it"?

The button that normally says "Download" is grayed out and it says "Purchased."

    Hi,

If the tracks are still in your iTunes library, you will not or need to download again.

iTunes creates a playlist automatically called purchased and all new purchases appear there. However, I have found that this playlist does not contain all my purchases.

If you wish to keep all your purchases together, I suggest that you create a smart playlist based on Kind = Purchased AAC file.

If the problem is only that the track (or tracks) isn't showing up in the "Purchased" playlist, simply find the track (or tracks) in the iTunes library and drag-n-drop them to the playlist.

FYI you are looking in the iTunes Store for your purchased songs; they cannot be re-downloaded from there. You must re-download music from your purchase history. See this Apple KB article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519. If a track is already in your iTunes library you will not be able to re-download it until you delete it from the library.

The song isn't anywhere in my library, or my Purchased playlist, or my purchase history, or even my hidden music. It's not anywhere associated with my account. That's why I tried to redownload it. But then I went to the song in the iTunes store, and where it normally says "Download" it said "Purchased" and the button was grayed out so I couldn't click it.

    Hi,

Are you looking in the right place? Go into iTunes Store and from quicklinks select Purchased. On the next screen, select Not on this Computer. This will show tracks that are available for download.

    Hi,

If you change view to on this computer, does it show the tracks that you have purchased and has downloaded after each track?

This sounds like a bit of an odd situation. Since you say the song is not in your purchase history and it is not hidden then it is possible the record label has removed the original item you purchased from the iTunes Store at some time between when you bought and it and now. However is that is the case the track in the iTunes Store shouldn't indicate you've purchased it. I suggest you log out of the iTunes Store, quit iTunes, wait a few seconds then open it again and log back into the iTunes Store. Once you've done this check for the track in your purchase history and see if it is hidden. You ought to be able to re-download it at this point. If the track in the iTunes Store still says you've purchased it you might need contact iTunes Store support directly.

If you had backups of your personal data you'd be able to just restore the track from the backup.

This is ridiculous. I purchased the Ellie Goulding album Halcyon (Deluxe Version) (that was the original name). The record lable updated the album last month with a different arrangement of songs and released it as Halcyon (Deluxe). In addition to that they released a stepped up deluxe version called Halcyon Days (Deluxe) which has even more songs. Most of the songs show as a greyed out "purchased" from my original album purchase but I can't redownload any of them or have a complete my album credit. Super frustrating! FIX THIS!
