Song shows as "Purchased" in iTunes and won't let me re-download it, but it doesn't show up in my Purchased list. I want the song back, don't mind re-downloading, but it won't let me

Ah, thank you! I had a similar problem but the songs WERE in my ITunes library but were grayed out. Also, when I tried to click on the download/cloud button next to the title name it was un-clickable. I followed your steps even though I didn't have the exact problem and with a few changes, my problem was solved.

After step 4 I ran into problems. In my "ITunes in iCloud" section there was no "Hidden Purchases". I did however click on the (I think this was the name, but it was the only button) "Learn More" button and it brought me back to a page similar to the page after signing in. From there, I was able to click on my "Purchases" link. After this I was able to click on the download/cloud button and the songs worked. Relatively easy process, but I got the help I needed..
