I recently changed ISP's. I am having problems putting an icon for my ISP on the iPad I am connecting to the internet by touching the old ISP icon and then typing in the new ISP. I really would like to have an icon on my desktop screen.

yes that is what I meant. I use my iPad to communicate via my e-mail and also to search the web. I would like to put my provider on my iPad so I can do that. At the present time I have the old ISP with icons on it. I do not want to use them. They will be disconnected in a day or two anyway. Do you have and iPad? Don't you search web? Do you use email on it?

Yes, I search the web, using a web browser such as Safari, Opera, Dolphin. None of which care who my ISP happens to be.
Yes, I use email using the Mail App, again totally unrelated to my ISP.
As long as you are connected to your wifi network you should be able to use Safari to browse the web. As far as mail is concerned you can either add the account in Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars, or you can access it from your provider's website. To add a shortcut to that on your home screen just use the 'share' icon, which looks like a box with an arrow coming out of it.

Add your new ISP mail account to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Sorry, but by ISP do you mean Internet Service Provider? If so, Why do you need a link to your ISP? Please explain further?
