Why doesn't my ipad mini charges when plugged into the computer?

The computer's USB port do not supply enough current to charge iPad.

Does it charge using the supplied wall charger? Some USB ports do not provide enough power to properly charge some devices. Using a USB keyboard (with a built-in USB port) to charge the device is almost guaranteed to fail as well.
