My MacBook Pro DVD drive keeps spinning and looking for a disc when there isn't one.

My MacBook Pro disc drive keeps spinning and looking for a disc when there isn't one in there. The DVD application is closed and as far as I can tell, the eject button is not stuck. I've restarted, but the problem persists. Please help!

MacBook Pro, iOS 6.1.4

No, it kept making the sound you hear when you stick a disc in and it starts running and the drive scans it. kind of a zipping sound.

i tried to stick a new disc in, because nothing would come out when I tried to eject.

Can't put a new disc in. Now I'm worried that my 3 year old may have stuck two discs in. How do I get them out? Or get anything out without going to the Apple store?

Ah, the dreaded stuck disks syndrome.

If they don't eject on their own accord, will need to take it in to the Store so the Geniuses can work on the problem. They may even need to take it apart in order to do the deed without damaging the drive.

To try and coax the Mac to eject the drive contents, try restarting while holding the trackpad down.
