Macbook Late 2009 - RAM Upgrade from 2 GB to 8 GB

I am trying to update my Macbook from 2 GB to 8GB and after I've installed the two 4 GB cards I get a sequence of three beeps which repeats and the computer won't boot. Can anyone lend me some advice? Is it possible the RAM I've purchased isn't compatible

Mac Book Specs

Late 2009, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

RAM Specs

Crucial 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL11 SODIMM 204-Pin 1.35V/1.5V Notebook Memory Modules CT2CP51264BF160B

That is the incorrect spec RAM for your model. You need:

Maximum Memory 8.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)

Memory Slots 2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

Can you pinpoint which spec was incompatible? I guess more for my own curious knowledge than anything else. I've read from a number of forums that although Apple says 4 GB is the max this model can support 8 GB. Thanks.

The computer requires PC 3- 8500 1066mHz RAM

You are trying to use PC 3- 12800 1600mHz RAM.

The 8gB quantity is fine, the RAM speeds aren't.
