Why can't I create an Apple ID without entering my credit card information?

The instructions show an option for "none". My POS doesn't give me that option

What the deuce.

The set up screen, at least from Canada, when setting up an AppleID does not offer a free app to download.

If you have an different Registration link let me know. I tried the one in the above notes and from the Apple istore.

According to this article from apple it is saying I must enter Payment information.

See it is not the Apple ID that is requesting the Payment information. It is itunes that is requesting it during the process of associating my Apple ID with itunes.

Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?

If None is not available - On your computer launch iTunes and click “iTunes Store” in the left navigation pane. Click the “down arrow” next to your name at the top right side of the page and click “Account.” Enter your username and password and click “View Account” to log into your account information. Next to your Payment Type, click “Edit.” Select the “None” button and click “Done.” Confirm that your card has been removed by returning to the Apple account information screen. Under Payment Type, it should say that there is no credit card on file.

Your understanding is wrong, you can create an account with 'none' on an iOS device, you just need to follow, exactly, the instructions on this page when creating the account : Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account without a credit card

For your password, have you tried logging out and back into your account on your iPad and seeing if it then works ?

We are fellow users, we can't 'fix' it. If you didn't follow the instructions on the HT2534 page when creating the account then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

You could see if this post by mountaingoatgirl lets you review your account without needing to enter credit card details : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5295285?answerId=24303054022#24303054022

If not then you will need to enter credit card details to use that account.

You can create an iTune and App Store account without credit card details

1. Sign out of current Apple ID if you are sign-in to one (important)

2. Go to App Store and select a free app

3. Tap INSTALL APP

4. Create New Apple ID

5. Confirm Your Country

6. Agree with Terms and Conditions

7. Fill in your Apple ID and Password (you must create a new Apple ID; don't use your old Apple ID)

8. Create and answer your secret question

9. Select NONE for Payment Method

10. Fill in Billing Address

11. Submit application for new Apple ID

12. Wait for verification email

13. When email arrive, verify your account

14. Start downloading your free apps

I did all steps but unfortunately it did not allow me to install app. Message appeared saying "this apple ID is not been used in the itunes store. Tap review to review your account information" When I tap Cancel I cannot install FREE app, and when I choose review option, It asks for Credit card information. So it did not work.

Besides, on my accaunt settings It says that " To create and Apple ID you must provide credit card, gift card or gift certificate information. You will not be charged untill you make a purchase" And on the picture you provided you have none option, I checked and I have "discover" (for credit card type) option.

Visa

mastercard

Amex

Discover = are only options.

So no use.

OK so this method of following all the steps as given does not work if you are using a laptop. I have set up 3 alias Google emails and followed each step exactly as stated. I still get the verification screen where it asks me to provide a CC. There is no "None" box. And YES I made sure I was not logged into Apple in anyway prior to trying each time after a full reboot too.

BTW I live in Canada and the country might be the issue due to different laws. And I work in IT.

Is there a solution for getting a itunes account in Canada for a Laptop that doesnt require a Credit Card?

The reason this came up for me is a bought a few movies that where Blueray+dvd+HD digital. So in order to unlock the digital version I have to do to digitalcopyplus.com>enter my redemption code>select the application to associate it with(in Canada it is only two : itunes or the disneystore) and I cant set up a itunes account without it asking for a CC, same with Disney.

Even If You created an Id, Later You can Update your account with payment option as "None" by login to "iCloud".

and the steps you have follow is

Open iCloud

1.Login

2.Manage Accounts

3.View Account

4.enter your login details Again and press "View Account"

5.Press "Edit" button corresponding to Payment Options

6.Select "None"

7.Press "Done"

Now your account is ready and updated without Credit Card.. 🙂

wow this is so dumb, all most everytime i download an app. it asks for my password, so i enter it, and it says its incorrect, when im 100% shure i entered it correct.. as if thats not enough...

so i make a new account, but cant get past the credit card ********.. so now i have to make a new email so i can make ANOTHER i tunes account? and why cant you just pick billing info when you make an account via computer.. my understanding the "NONE" option only appears when making an account from itunes on your device? if so why? apple obviously knows about the issue.... fix it....

i

and whats up with itunes saying my password is wrong? i know im typing it correctly, and its the correct account... not to mention it does the same for wifi
