Cant download apps because Itunes keeps asking me to verify account info. Does anyone have a work around?

This was my solution eventually:

Made a new Apple ID, logged in with it, deleted the apps which I could no longer update and successfully re-downloaded them through my new Apple ID.

Removing already installed apps is a crucial step, because they remain associated with your old Apple ID, which is essentially blocked if you have an unpaid balance on it.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to pay your outstanding balance? 😕

If Apple allowed any other form of payment besides a credit card (which I don't have) I may have been able to pay my enormous debt of 99 cents, but alas they don't, so I can't.

Here in the UK one can use credit, debit, or gift cards. Easy to forget the rules can be different elsewhere. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Yes, believe me, I've tried every suggestion I could find online before resorting to my eventual workaround solution. Using my debit card is also a no-go because it's Maestro; Apple only accepts Visa, MasterCard and AmEx. Apple needs to get into bed with PayPal or something, stat.

Again, depending on the country your iTunes & App Store are in, and if you are using Family Sharing or not, but PayPal is an option under certain setups:

Fine print is a son of a so-and-so. Again, I've considered and tried pretty much everything. My solution is thus far the only one for the particular predicament I was in (and still am with my old Apple ID). Nonetheless, thanks for chiming in.

Well, yes - that is how PayPay works. You have to have a card on file with PayPal in order to use it....not sure if the parenthetical note literally means a "credit" card. I'm guessing that if you are using PayPal, Apple would have no way to know what form of payment you are using. That is the point of PayPal - no payment card information is sent to the requester. From PayPal's Privacy Notice page:

Regardless, we will not disclose your credit card number or bank account number to anyone you have paid or who has paid you using PayPal, or with the third parties that offer or use PayPal Services, except with your express permission or if we are required to do so to comply with credit card rules, a subpoena, or other legal process.

Have you tried using a Paypal account with a form of payment other than a Credit Card and had issues?

Yes, I've researched the Apple/PayPal angle as well and it can solely be linked to a credit card, at least it is in the Netherlands. Unlike, say, eBay, where I've been using PayPal successfully for years by simply linking it to my bank account number.

Thus far, I can't help but chalk this one up to Apple being difficult for no good reason... again. Luckily, the good outweighs the bad many times over, so it's all good.

i experienced the credit card verification time out issue on my iPhone when I had 'Use mobile data' disabled in Settings > iTunes & App Store. By enabling mobile data I was able to verify my credit card. Seems like a software oversight.
