unlock sprint iphone

Hello,

I need to unlock iphone 4s from sprint to use a different carrier, its no longer under contract. I called sprint and they gave me a code and said that the new carrier could use it to set up their network and that that was all that is needed to change carrier....

The new carrier says sprint still has to unlock it and the code is useless....

can anyone help?

You need to call Sprint back and have them complete the unlock.

Yes, I've read all those but as you stated no dates are given and the carriers are allowed some latitude. Sprint will unlock the phone for those that qualify for international use, military deployed overseas, etc. They won't unlock it for use with domestic carriers at this time.

The CDMA side of the phone works entirely differently and it is possible you could use it with Sprint related MVNOs but you would not be able to use it with Verizon as they will not accept carry in phones. The accord does not really cover the CDMA situation.

I don't believe there was any "signature" involved and I know for sure that did not mean that everything had to change on that date but referred to changes "in the future." This is why no reasonable person has raised any kind of storm about it and there is nothing in the agreement that forces Sprint to unlock the GSM side of their iPhone for domestic use.

There seems to be some confusion here.

1. The MSL will not unlock your iPhone. It is used for updating the carrier information. AGAIN it will not unlock your phone. If spring gave it to you it will only update sprint information that is it.

2. All iphones are un-trademarked. The phones are programmed for the select carrier.

3. The lock resides in the Modem revision. So restoring your phone will not do anything other then restoring it.

4. You can not unlock a sprint phone. The only way to do it is with a GPP sim card from ebay. And that work 20% of the time with no internet most of the time. Also no MMS. To get these to work you better be an IT person. There are all trial and error. (Not a method i really suggest.)

5. The only carrier you can use this phone on are PagePlus and Freddompop. Unless the phone has a bad esn. And in that case only PagePlus. This also goes for verizon iphones 4s.

I hope this answered all the confusion. There should really be no other questions.

Here is the best option. Sale it and buy a GSM version.

That's probably news to Apple. And, not all phones are programmed for a specific carrier.

4. You can not unlock a sprint phone.

You can certainly get a Sprint phone unlocked - by Sprint. By policy, they do not unlock phones for use on domestic GSM carriers, though.

What I'm still confused about is why you resurrected a thread that's been dead for over six months.

Sorry in number 2 the trademarked term was used wrong. Most people seem to have the confusion to y the iphone do not have the sprint or verizon network logo.

Number 4 you are correct, however the user was looking for domestic GSM.

And to the last one, i got sent to this post from two different other forums with related questions. It seems to be a popular conversation outside here even if this is a few months old. The best way to reach the attention of the people on these forums was to comment here.
