sometimes my ipod will not play through a playlist, it repeats the first song over and over. what might be happening?

Do you have that songs on Repeat?
On the left side of the Now Playing screen is the Repeat icon/control. It is the arrowed racetrack icon right below the scrubber bar. Tap it until it is white for no repeat.
