Is there a way to automatically turn off iMessage when not connected via WiFi?

Is there a way to automatically turn off iMessage when not connected via WiFi? I have an iPhone 5 and I LOOVE the idea of using iMessage over wifi for free messaging, but dont want it to use up my 4g when Im not connected. I also have unlimited texting, does that count as iMessage?

iMessage uses a miniscule amount of data... checking e-mail on the device uses 10x's if not 100x's of times more data than sending an iMessage. Leave it on and stop concerning yourself with it.

If data consumption is really an issue, turn off iMessage and leave it off... since you have unlimited messaging it's a non-issue for you. Although doing this may annoy others that you communicate with, especially if they do not have unlimited messaging.
