If I understand your question correctly, the way that I'd extract a groove from a piece of rhythmical audio (preferably drums) is to use the Factory > “Audio to MIDI Groove Template function (there are quite a few options there, but there's a 'Try' button)
Once you've got a MIDI file, you can always use it as a MIDI template, so you can quantize other SI or outboard MIDI tracks to them.
thanx, you understood it correctly!
in Logic 9 is that option,
but in LPX i don not see that factory menu with audio to midi groove - command.
perhaps i had too much logic pro x- time in the last weeks so that i don not see the obvious anymore 😉
Have you gone into LPX's preferences and turned on all the advanced features under the Advanced Tab?
Make sure you check all the boxes under that tab to ensure you get full access to all of LPX's features...
Hi
The "mistake" is that the Audio to MIDI Groove function (and a bunch of others) has been removed from LPX.
The new alternative would be to use Flex Pitch and then extract the MIDI data, or the Flex and Groove Track or Groove template functions, depending on your needs.

thanx a lot .. and I thought, nothing has been removed 😉
