Wrong Apple ID in my iPhone iCloud

I have a new Apple ID as I had to change email addresses. This I have changed on my MacBook Pro.

On my iphone, when I go to iCloud, account details, it shows a different (old) Apple ID.

How can I change it to the correct one?

I don't seem to be able to cancel or change the wrong Apple ID on my iphone.

I think I found the answer here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/106290/change-my-apple-id-email-address -on-icloud-account

Briefly, you go to manage your apple id (https://appleid.apple.com/), then change your username back to the old email address. Then go back into settings and delete the old account. This time, you'll be able to use your current password. Then go back to manage your apple id and change to your new username. This seems to have worked for me. I then had to re-verify my new email address, which I did.

Hello, I've tried all the above solutions but to no avail. When I edit my primary email account by adding the old account name i receive this dialogue from apple: "This e-mail address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID." So unable to do anything to rectify the problem requests to enter iCloud password for old email address/username. Any suggestions as Apple Support have, as usual, been particularly unhelpful?

I have the same problem. It is driving me crazy. This is after a long run of iTunes and my iPhone asking me to update things. I checked my wireless provider and I have long been able to get an upgrade/change phones...I am about one inch away from turning this baby in for a non-Apple product. Security is nice, but when it's so secure that the OWNER can't use it, that's a problem. 😟

I'm not on icloud & I sync my Iphone to PC. I'm on Microsoft cloud for business reasons. Old email address is defunct & not accessible. Keeps asking me to sign into my phone with that old address & I didn't know the password. Eventually prompted me to IForgot so I could reset password. I did & instead of resetting password on the defunct address (which I hoped I could sign into & then delete on my phone), it changes the password on my current correct apple ID (doesn't reset the wrong email address id). So frustrating. On computer Apple ID is correct but on Iphone it pops up with the defunct address. The phone is updated with latest software. I think it's time for the genius bar.
