Can I get applecare for an iPhone5 now?

If I buy a new iPhone5 on ebay, will Apple allow me to purchase Apple Care now that they've discontinued the model?

You can purchase AppleCare anytime up to one year from the original date of purchase.

If within a year of purchase date, non-plus APP is available, so long as nothing has 'voided' that option, like unauthorized service, jailbreaks, etc. APP (regular) was simply removed from the retail stores & online, in order to heavily promote the plus version. Apple said they were considering cancelling it entirely, but never did so. They might in the future, but as of today, it's still available.

Let me thank everyone, and update you on my potential purchase which will either happen today or it won't happen at all, the auction/Buy It Now is ending today.

Seller has stated that the iPhone5 he is selling is a replacement for his original 5 under warranty, and I have asked him for a copy of paperwork showing dated warranty period, the phone itself is still sealed & unopened. if he gets back to me I'll buy it, but only after calling Support & verifying that Apple Care is still available, which I will do this morning.

That's how careful I am being.

You know, it seems to me I am chasing a dog without a tail her. The new 5c is the same price as an ebay 5, $549 and directly from Apple, full one year warranty, unlocked, no contract, gsm then buy a sim from ATT or T-Mobile. It appears there is no point in looking for a iPhone5. And I've read the battery and the camera is a little better on the 5c, supports more LTE networks, any thoughts?

And what about loss or damage coverage?

I realize this question has morphed guys, sorry.

If the phone the seller has is an actual warranty replacement, then it is not in a sealed and unopened box, unless they come that way when Apple Care replaces them via mail. Phones replaced at the Apple store for warranty are just handed to the individual with no box. Replacement phones also do not come with the additional accessories like charger and earphones. If you are supposed to be getting everything, then it would have to be piecemeal to include everything.
