It is very strange. Apple seem to have missed the point of Bluetooth.

Its a wireless connection to use when you are NOT on-line.

I can pair my mac with my android phone and synch ok.

I can pair my iphone with my keyboard and it works just fine.

I can pair my ketboard with my mac (I think), but not the mac and iphone when I'm not on-line.

Apple assume we'll always have a phone signal and mobile data. We don't - even in large town and cities.

    Hence Bluetooth.

Wake up Apple - the technology esists, you just need to tweak the code. Listen to your customers and stop trying to guide our lives because you think you know best.

You do not. And it will cost you in your wallets if you carry on like this.

Sorry Apple.  You can add me to the list of disappointed customers.  I bought the i-Pad because I loved the i-Phone.  I bought the Mac Air because I understood it was compatible with both.  Now I find out the the newest phone and newest Mac can't even talk to each other via Bluetooth.  Pretty ridiculous.

I may need to get the old laptop back out of the closet and buy and Android.

unbelievable Apple, You cant sort out this bluetooth connecting iphone with Macbook? Its laughable. I got a code generated with blutooth pairing, turned on hotspot and it STLL will not connect. W.T.F you guys do in your palace in California?

  • unbusted67 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Yup super annoying. Mine won't even connect as a hotspot through bluetooth. USB and Wifi work fine for the hotspot but nothing for bluetooth. On a more annoying front my PC running windows XP won't work off of my Iphone's hotspot, which ***** becasue I am a tour manager and rely heavily on the hotspot. So I've had to switch over to an older MBP that I've inherited.

The thing that really ****** me off about all of this is Apple's lack of accesibilty to docs and pdfs. Why on God's Green Earth can't I just drag a pdf onto my iphone while it is plugged into my computer and have it be accessible on the iphone? Instead I have to jump through ten hoops emailing the thing to myself and downloading it to the phone. Now with Bluetooth innaccesible as a means to send docs, pdfs and data between devices, well Jesus you've backed yourself into a corner Apple. It is just this coddling condescending attitude of this company that ****** me off. They clearly know best what is good for us the consumer. Sucky products.

One more to the list of disappointed customers...

Really i never think this could be possible...

IT´S THE SAME LABEL OR NOT, CAN YOU GIVE ME AN ANSWER?????

    Paulo

Guys & gals.. please read my original post.. this is just one of the many shortcomings of the I phone.. stop wasting your time trying to pair it via Bluetooth to your MBPro.. it just doesn't work!

Maybe this is just a lesson to consider WHY you have bought an I Phone (or any other Apple product for that matter)??..

You are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user support forum. Telling us or yelling with your caps lock does not get anything done here. If it helps any at all, you have never been able to connect the devices via Bluetooth from the very beginning. It is believed this is to prevent the possibility of exchanging copyrighted materials/files. If you want to let Apple know your thoughts, then go to the feedback page at www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate link.

So this is just a matter of time for it to be deleted my the monitor who deleted the last one, if this is not an answer to a technical question, I do not know what is.

Actually it's to prevent us from using HotSpot without having a subscription with the carrier to do so.  I went  through the entire process with both Apple reps and At&T reps, the AT&T supervisor activated the service for a few hours and voila, all of a sudden the BT worked flawlesly.  I am baffled that a law suit has not been brought against both companies yes, it's completely insane.

  • ChrisJ4203 Level 8 Level 8 (38,065 points)

That is not it. Even if you have Personal Hotspot, as I do, you still cannot connect to do anything except use the Bluetooth connection for Hotspot. You still cannot pair with the computer for any other reason. While having a Hotspot approval from the carrier does allow you to connect to the Hotspot via Bluetooth, it does not allow anything else.

Actually, like I said, it worked flawlessly for me, I could transfer files, screen share etc......  So it surely worked.  I also tried with apps, including Scribe.

  • jfort Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

You've got to be kidding me. I cannot get my iPhone 5S to BT Pair with my 27" iMac. I used to routinely pair iPhone with iMac, but somewhere along the way, new iPhone, software updates (?), a disfunction has been created. Both are running the latest software. For an instant, they were in communication and I saw a 6 digit number, but it went away and now I continually get an error message. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SO DIFFICULT!!

  • Sunasia1 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

It's about time Apple released a statement explaining the reason for stopping pairing with bluetooth and also they should inform potential customers of this non function so they can make a judgement on buying or if transferring data without cable is important .Android and PC is the way to go.

  • Titillator Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

SunAsia1.. do you honestly believe that this is the only "non function" that Apple doesn't tell us about?  If they did, then you might never buy an Apple again...

But we agree with you.. they should be honest about the shortcomings.. but then again, which PC manufacturer is ever that honest??

  • stikman Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    ...incredulous !!!  i am.

...i am unable to believe, my iPhone and MBP cannot comunicate via bluetooth.

  • sdkeach Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

OK so like an idiot I intermittently keep trying to connect my iPad2 and iPhone5 to my MBP. Of course it fails but I just keep hanging on to a shred of hope that someday it just may start working. I have questions to pose to all of you following this thread.........Just what the **** are you supposed to pair your laptop with if it won't pair with other iOS devices? Why does the MacBookPro even have Bluetooth at all? what the **** is it for?

It is baffleing....I am sure they are working on this right? does anyone have knowledge on whether or not Apple is working on a fix for this?

    Dug
