Iphone 5 wont pair with my new macbook pro

I just bought a macbook pro 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory

I saw on a fair a person using the reflector app on his macbook pro. he had just simply paired his iphone 5 with his macbook pro using bluetooth.

I tried it on my macbook pro but it wont pair.

When i searh after new devices it finds my iphone and sends a code to my iphone. my macbook pro says that my phone is now paired but not connected.

On my iphone 5 i can see my macbook pro but it says not connected. when i press "not connected" i get an error message saying that my macbook pro arent supported.

I saw in another thread somesone saying you cant pair your iphone to your macbook pro using bluetooth, but that cant be right cause i saw it yesterday at the fair.

Help anyone?

The iPhone will not natively pair with the MacBook Pro. The App you quote would be required to perform what you wish.

It is not what software "I think ATT&T is crippling." Rather, it is that ATT&T disables Bluetooth Pairing with a Macbook.

You mean the Personal Hotspot is not available with the unlimited plan. It never has been available for those with unlimited data.

AT&T is not disabling bluetooth pairing with the MacBook because it is only available with the Personal Hotspot which AT&T does not offer with unlimited plan.

Hopefully I will not need to enable this to use the new iOS 8 / Yosemite continuity or sharing features.

I'd bet large amounts of money there is no way (without some kind of hack) you will be able to use your phones unlimited data with the personal hotspot.

Hey!

So I've had the same problem for some time now, wanting to pair the iphone via bluetooth and using keynote remote. Unfortunately this doesn't work, but here's a workaround that actually works fine:

1. Download any remote to iOS ( I used the "Remoter" - works fine)

2. download the server software using the app's instructions

3. turn your Iphone Wifi hotspot on
4. Connect to it on your mac

5. voila.

Hello again. I think your proposed "patch" is totally unacceptable for devices originating from Apple technology. For a company preaching on simplicity and design, your proposed route is altogether time-consuming, intricate and far from being simple. And to further elaborate on your idea, please take into account that, thank God, Apple has already realized their flaw and plan to amend in their forthcoming update of OS X Yosemite in parallel with their iOS 8 launch expected in Fall 2014.

OMG. This is so frustrating. I also have the unlimited plan. I have a brand new iMac and an iPhone 5. I am still very confused because of one thing. When I did the initial setup of on my iMac 2 months ago, the Talk/Phone feature worked and I could see my iMac on Airdrop. That leads me to believe that it might NOT be the unlimited data plan. Could this be true?

Thanks for the update!

Everything here works just fine.

The only thing stopping me from breaking every device I have is that I don't have PC replacements

Yeah, you breaking thousands of $$ worth of your own computer stuff would really show Apple a thing or two, wouldn’t it?
