I am aggravated too !! I also paid for extra space! When I go to storage it says I have 14.6 GB available on i cloud.. Well the question is.. how can I make use of the space available on icloud from my iphone? Another question is, why caint the people from Apple give me this information directly with out chargeing me? The phone cost me $700.00 that should be worth some free instructions. ( all in all I enjoy my iphone 5, just aggravated with this aspect and a few other things like, My ear always mute the conversation when I am speaking with someone on the phone. Also it is so easy if phone is unlocked for the phone to auto dial people in my phone book. This is aggravating too !!) IJS lol Im just saying !!

You obvioulsy didn't remove enough to make room.

Go to Settings - General - Usage.

At very top, it will tell you what you have available and used. Below that, after a few moments, the phone will show all apps in order of space used from highest to lowest.

Start removing what you don't absolutely need.

As for your muting issue - remove any screen guard you might have put on. That could block the proximity sensor which senses when your face is against the phone. If you don't have one, then this sensor might have failed and you would need to get phone repaired/replaced.

The space you purchased is in iCloud. It is not on your phone, and there is no way you can use it directly on your phone. The phone comes with whatever memory you purchased it with (8, 16, 32 or 64 GB) and that number will never change. You can use iCloud memory for backups, for syncing your mail, contacts, calendars, notes and photos. You can also use it for storing non-iTunes music to stream back to the phone (iTunes music also, but the storage for that is free, and is not part of the storage you purchased) and Documents and Data for apps that are iCloud enabled (such as Apple's Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps).

Apple gives you 90 days of free telephone support when you buy an iPhone or iPad. I guess they figure that 3 months is enough time to get your startup questions answered. You also had the option of buying AppleCare, which would have extended the 90 days free telephone support to 2 years.

You can still get free support from Apple by going to any Apple store, and from other users in this user-to-user support forum. And frequently user support is more useful than Apple's, because users don't have Apple's lawyers overseeing everything that is said by Apple employees.

You cannot add additional storage to the iPhone. What you purchased was additional storage for backup in iCloud. The only way to make more room on your iPhone for new photos, etc. is to delete some of the stuff you have on the phone. You can use a computer to back up unneeded apps, photos and music so they will be available if needed or wanted in the future.
